QUALITY MANAGEMENT

What is Responsibility in a QMS?

Responsibility in a QMS

Responsibility refers to the duty of having authority or control over something or someone.  If you are responsible for something, you will be held accountable for the outcome of what comes from it, as this was your duty.

It is critical for quality management systems that you accept responsibility for your activities. This will reflect your commitment to the task at hand, as well as your integrity and ownership.

Most organisations have inherent duties, whether they be to their employees, customers, or the general public. It’s difficult to escape being responsible for something, and the more your company takes this duty, the better off they’ll be.

Organizations, in particular, have a responsibility to guarantee the health and safety of their workers. The implications for an organization that decides to neglect this responsibility for whatever reason could be disastrous.
