WHAT IS SHEQ?
SHEQ stands for Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality within the Management system.

OHS stands for Occupational Health and safety. This is a regulated service that an organisation adopts to ensure the health and safety of the employees in their workplace.
WHAT IS AN OHS POLICY?
To be compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, the employer must provide and maintain a safe, healthy, and well-maintained work environment for its workers.
WHAT IS THE OHS ACT?
The OHS Act is a legal requirement that an organisation enforces to provide for the health and safety of its employees in the workplace. Furthermore, it protects persons other than employees against hazards to health and safety arising from the activities of persons at work.
WHAT IS ISO?
ISO is the International Organization for Standardization. It’s an independent, international organisation that develops standards to promote and ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems.
WHAT IS ISO 9001:2015?
It is an international standard that specifies the requirements for a quality management system (QMS). To demonstrate compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, organizations use the standard.
WHAT IS ISO 14001:2015?
ISO 14001 has become the international standard for designing and implementing an environmental management system. An environmental management system (EMS), is made up of the policies, processes, plans, practices and records that are used by the organisation to manage environmental aspects.

WHAT IS A SAFETY OFFICER?
A Health and Safety Officer must have a relevant formal qualification. To work as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry, one must also be registered with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
WHAT IS A HEALTH & SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE?
A Health and Safety Representative is designated in workplaces where the employer employs more than 20 employees. Health and Safety Representatives often act as the liaison between senior management and employees.
WHAT IS PPE?
Personal Protective Equipment. It is worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses. These injuries and illnesses may result from contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards.
