What is Training?

To train an employee means to inform or instruct them on a particular task to help them perform better or learn more. Training is crucial to ensuring that people perform their jobs at the highest level. Efficient training means that the objective of the training has achieved the precise results required. It should be cost-efficient and should yield a good return on investment. Additionally, your employees need to achieve or retain the skills and knowledge they need to perform their daily tasks and objectives, direct others to accomplish their work and manage objectives and tasks. Training is imperative in running a successful organisation, not training your employees can their productivity, morale, safety and therefore affect the quality of their work.

  1. Training Needs assessment:
  • The first step in process of training begins with assessment stage, this step is performed to identify if training is needed or not. If the training is needed, your next step will be defining competency or skills differences and the applicable training required.
  1. Development of training plan:
  • Once the needs analysis has been completed, your next step is to Develop a training plan.
  1. Develop the training material:
  • This stage includes the development of the training content and materials needed for the training. This stage covers factors such as time and venue of training.
  1. Conduct the training:
  • Once the training has been developed, it’s time to conduct the training.
  • There are different variables that decide the course of delivery like the participants socioeconomics, the training intervention, the style of the trainer and so forth. This brings a great deal of variety to the training programs.
  1. Evaluate and follow up:
  • This the last of the process and the most important one. The final step is to evaluate the effectiveness of the training, it is done to determine whether the training has achieved the objective envisioned or not – in the Development Follow up is based on the participant’s response to the training as the effect should be visible in their perform or behaviour. This feedback can be used to make future training more effective.
