BUSINESS CONTINUITY

Business Continuity Plan vs Disaster Recovery Plan

What is the Difference Between A Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan?

Continuity planning for your business and disaster planning for your operations are two very different approaches, but both are essential to ensuring the safety of your organizations information systems and operations.
A business continuity plan outlines what your organization will do in the case of a disaster. The plan ensures that your business can continue largely as usual. It has a wider scope than the disaster recovery plan.

Disaster recovery is just one aspect of a business continuity plan. These plans are more technical and specific, meaning that certain groups within your organization can use them to recover specific aspects of your business. The information department is often involved in disaster plans that a lot of organisations have. As a result, information technology can store so much information that if it is lost, it could be detrimental to your organization. As part of the disaster recovery plan, we will answer the question “Can we recover our IT services if we lose them, and how?” An effective disaster recovery plan will clearly define the steps to be taken in order to retrieve the information again.

Your organization must also outline specific plans for specific departments. A loss of information system data can negatively impact certain areas of your business a lot more than others, and this needs to be outlined.
